5 Ways To Get The Most From Your Electric Bike Battery

The battery, your electric bike quite frankly wouldn’t be anything without it. Keeping your e-bike battery charged is like making sure you have enough fuel in the tank for your car. Your Jot Bike lithium ion battery is the most expensive component of the bike so it pays to take good care of it. As you ride your electric bike more and more, like your phone or laptop battery, over a long period of time the capacity reduces. Here’s 5 ways you can maximise the life of your electric bike battery:

1. Keep your battery high and dry

Ok maybe not high, but store your battery in a dry area out of direct sunlight. The best way to do this is to keep your bike in your house or apartment and avoid riding in bad weather.

2. Keep topping up the battery charge

Instead of fully depleting the battery before charging we recommend that you top up your battery every time you finish riding.

3. Only use the charger provided to you

Every electric bike has its own specific charger and using a different charger or one not supplied by the manufacturer is dangerous and could result in battery damage or fire.

4. Avoid riding in the rain

Where possible it is best to avoid riding in the rain. Some Jot Bikes models can handle the wet a little better than others but as a rule of thumb if it's raining it's probably not safe to ride.

5. Take care of your battery

This is probably the easiest way to maintain a healthy battery, avoid dropping the battery as this can damage the cells and weaken the integrity of the housing causing the battery to swell. Keep it clean, safe, and treat it like you would a small puppy!
